One huge advantage of my workflow problem I discovered was how much easier doing titles in Premiere Pro is compared to After Effects. Normally I just use a solid colour and add a text element in a separate precomp and then adjust the in and out times to get it where I want it. After looking around the software I discovered that Premiere Pro has a dedicated titles tool.
This tool allows you to create titles as a separate asset that has a transparent back ground which makes things a little easier for me. You can also create a template that can be used many times for end credits, as well as much better alignment options. I'm quite glad I discovered this and will be using it to do my titles from now on. Below are some examples of my titles:
