Pay it Forward
Airbnb's most recent campaign has been called 'pay it forward' which involves giving 100,000, $10 each to carry out a random act of kindness. Accompanying this was the use of the hashtag #OneLessStranger and a microsite to showcase peoples choices: airbnb.co.uk/one-less-stranger. I think this shows Airbnb's willingness to engage with current social media vectors and furthers thier overall vision of creating a global human community.
Wall and Chain
This campaign is another that fits with its human stories/community theme. It tells the story of a woman who brings her father to Berlin to stay on the other side of the Wall during the anniversary of its falling. I really like the illustration style in the animation as its very loose and strays slightly from the branding guidelines. It might be useful to remember that they don't strictly adhere to a specific idea when it comes to the development of our style in the app.
Paper Plane
In the very first TV advert created by Airbnb, they enlisted the help of people on Vine to produce the ad in pre-determined 5 second chunks (in keeping with the built in limit). This campaign shows that they are very willing to rely on community created video for their campaigns.
